Folders: Please check your child’s Leadership Binder EVERY night. It contains their behavior calendar, important notes, and your child’s papers from the day. Take everything out of the folder each night and only return items that need to be returned (notes to me, lunch money, permission slips, homework, etc.) I check folders every morning.
Money: If you are sending money to school, please place it in an envelope and write your child’s name on it and what it is for. Put the envelope in your child’s folder.
Toys From Home: Do NOT let your child bring any toys from home. Toys will be taken away and placed in a safe place until you can come by and pick them up.
If your child is sick (or has been sick in the last 24 hours): Do NOT send them to school. If your child has had a fever, diarrhea, or thrown up anytime in the last 24 hours prior to the beginning of the school day the nurse will call you to pick them up. Please help our classroom be as germ free as possible and keep your kids home from school.
Classroom Website: I will email families when a new blog entry is made. If you do not have internet access, then I will put a printed copy in your child’s folder.
Change in Transportation: If you need to send your child home with another student/adult or in a different way (ex. car instead of bus), please write me a note or leave me a voicemail before 1:30 pm. If I do not receive either of these, then your child will go home as usual.
Discipline: Your child’s behavior will be marked everyday in the Leadership Binder on the behavior calendar. Each level will be marked by a different color. If your child receives any color of than green or above, there will be a short note as to why they are on that color. Natural consequences will be used when appropriate (ex. Drawing on the table = cleaning the table, Off-Task = Complete Task). Should problems arise, your child and I will work together to find a solution that works for both of us.
Blue, Purple, or Pink = “I went above and beyond today.”
Green = “I had a great day!”
Yellow = “I had a few, small problems today.” (ex. whining, lots of talking, not following directions, etc.)
Orange = “I had trouble controlling myself today.” (ex. throwing fits, hitting, kicking, spitting, being disrespectful)
Red = Office referral (ex. Fighting, stealing, vandalism, threats, etc.)
I provide many reminders before changing a child's color. I believe in fairness, firmness, and consistency.
