So much to inform you of, so I'll keep it simple.
Thirteen days left! The kids are crazy this week as though tomorrow is our last day together. We still have learning happening, so please remind your sweetie to follow school rules and to be respectful.
I've been testing reading scores this week, and I am so proud of many of the kids. It's easy to see who really wants to read and who has support at home. Every minute of time you spend reading to and with your child and then talking about the stories makes a huge impact on learning. Twenty kids have reached or passed the previous reading expectation C/3 with seven of those reaching the current expectation E/8. They have all come a long way. Level C/4 is where test books become difficult because all I can read for the student is the title. Don't be discouraged if your child isn't on level! Continue reading and encouraging throughout the summer. You can catch up before August if you continue to practice. For math we are weighing items to determine heavier or lighter weight and measuring items with string to determine length. I will retest subtraction facts next week for a final time. Thank you to those of you sending Teacher Appreciation gifts this week! It is so fun to have goodies being brought every day. Your kindness and messages have warmed my heart. Reminders *Book orders due by 4 pm Friday the 9th. *Field day is the 22nd. Use sunscreen on your child that morning and send a hat and sunglasses. *If you would like a CD of the pictures I've taken throughout the school year, send a blank CD next week. I'll be happy to save the pictures to it for you. Hugs, Mrs. Bailey |
